considering this subject has been hashed and rehashed over the years, check older posts... SJ has not expressed much of an opinion, and there is still definately no detterant for consistent 1 voters. but what is a 10 to one person is a 1 to another, depends on yr view point and whatever floats yr boat.. the problem here is there is no next button, that would get rid of loads of 1 votes in my opionion... and there should also be a way of getting to the next pictue in a profile without the constant click and move up and down the screen that you have to do now... also a way of knowing how the profile ratings actually works... no one has ever said properly how its worked out, just saying averages doesnt mean anything at all, because they dont change whether u remove or add new pictures

I think the vote system is twoddle any ways. If like my little snippet you should have a varitey of difernt themes you will get high votes on some pics others low depending on the preferences of the person voting a bit of a big deal really at the end of the day you wont get a million bucks for any of them. Its all a bit of a larf any way is that not the idea?

For us we liked the voting and trying to make a leader board by taking good shots and thinking of different poses etc. But after a while the stupid voting meant we both lost the point of even trying as it became a total lottery so we removed our rating bar. If members like us and SH enjoy trying for the boards with good votes then whats the harm in that, it is a fun feature of the site which should not need any policing whatsoever. As the site grown this has proved to be a bigger and bigger problem and only one SJ can rectify but i understand that his time is his own and that's not what he wants to be doing with it.
Maybe a much more simple "like" voting system would work with the number of likes counting to get to the top of boards, would that be easy to implement ? I have seen a site with this that also show who has voted for you too so you can see who appreciates what you do . I would be quite happy for members to know if i had voted for them

i dont wanna know if someone likes my pictures or not... i want an honest score/vote so i know if i am on the right track pictures wise... some of my best shots start off with 1's but then recoup the votes later on, u just have to wait it out... doesnt matter about clarity or lighting sometimes, its just a feeling u want to portray, this is what i go for and members in the know appreciate my efforts, i prove that u can produce quality pictures with a mobile fone, u dont need all the expensive stuff, just go for it, experiment and have fun with it.. other members should remember that it takes a lot of effort to produce even one original picture and each picture invites u into their world, so a bit of respect is due - dont like it? dont vote!

That is the whole point, we all want an honest score but it just isn't happening on here If i ever thought any of my pics were worth anything under 5 then i would not bother posting em. Your right tho it does seem to work out in the end but you need to have plenty of members voting on your pics for that to happen
. It's been such a recurring subject for so long that i thought it was time to put up or shut up, so i removed the voting bar and shut up.

shame u felt u had to turn off yr voting bar but at least that protects the scores u already have, which keeps u on the leader boards etc. think theres a lot of members who do that do u still vote on other peoples pictures?

I removed the pic of mine that was on the leader board as it seems only fair if your not being voted on yourself to leave the boards free for those who are still trying to make em. I did enjoy trying but i guess i feel that it's not going to change so i hold my hands up and give up, saves the disappointment as well.

All this about people voting 1 doesn't matter if enough people are voting. A score can also easily be calculated excluding extremes (not simply ignoring 1s and 10s but ignore them if they are way off the mean figure), such as they do at IMDB for scoring votes for films (they don't score a film until it has a minimum of votes). I don't know the algorithm, but it can't be too difficult.
Another point is, that many pictures are posted in the wrong category. A fine picture in the "men in heels" scores a 1 in the "women in heels" category.

I think some people see it as a competition rather than a way of expressing like or dislike and so they actively vote down other people.. what I find mildly amusing is that clearly some of my pics are pretty decent (I will admit that at least) and accept that not everyone here will like them cos it's not my cock in a shoe (!!!??).. but if they really do think my pics are worth 1 and not maybe 5 or 6 or 8 or whatever.. then what they hell are they actually doing here?

Yes, that's correct. Therefore there isn't anything wrong with the voting system there. It's the members own fault for posting in the wrong category
Rickitv. Members who are here will express 1 if they do not like the picture. Firstly, are you saying that no matter what, all your pictures deserve more than a 1 no matter who is looking at them? That is a high expectation of anyone regardless of how good anyones pictures are.
It also implies that you think if a picture has a shoe in it it must deserve more than a 1 to anyone with a shoe fetish? Why? I love pictures of buildings and architecture but just because a picture has concrete in it doesnt mean i love it? Show me a nice picture of the Hilton building in Manchester and I'd give it a 10. Show me 1 of a run down ex council house with a pebble dash front and I may score it a 1. Extremes are acceptable in any voting system if you choose to take part
I have seen many pics here that I would score a 1 if I was someone who did a lot of voting? Just because people here share an interest does not mean they shouldn't score a 1 if they dislike an image, just the same as they would score a 10 for liking it.
If you accept the high scores, you need to accept the low (understanding that no matter what happens, this will always happen for 1 reason or another)

There are some people that are really playing a hateful game with voting. I had just posted a new main photo. The first vote was a 10. The second one today must have been a 2 since the average is now a 6. Perhaps it was not a 10 photo but it certainly was not a 2! In my opinion if a photo was technically sound and was on theme it deserved a 5. How can we squelch the hateful voting or low voting to others to enhance ones own score?

I too get a lot of extremely low votes, in fact very few of my photos get voted higher than a 5 let alone a 4. In the end, I don't mind, as the voting is rather random in my opinion (like a "hot or not" type of thing), and I'm not likely putting up the pictures for the "1 voters" but putting them up for the anyone who would enjoy them, and I know there are quite a few people who do enjoy them, and I think them for the comments and messages.

I've had a good number of pics with an average of ten, just shy of enough votes for the leaderboard, only to have ass clowns vote low to knock it down. Now I know not all my pics are a 10. But i think i do good work, i give the people what they want by cumming on all my co-worker's heels. There are at least 2 or 3 of my pics that should have made it to the leaderboard. But in the end, i don't really care because i know, and the people that vote my pics a 10 on a regular basis know, that i do good work. So stop drinking the haterade assholes!

I know this topic has been covered ad naseum, but I'm still confused about the scoring. Does the score reflect the average votes of all your pics? If some of your pics have no votes and you deleted them, would that raise your score overall?
What bothers me most about scoring is a new member joins, has three pics posted that gets high numbers somehow and they are vaulted to the top. Those of us who have been around for many years and have posted over 100 pics end up with a much lower average.
This fact is really obvious when you click to see the members online and those ahead of you with higher scores are recent members with what I consider to be, average and far fewer pics.

no one has ever got to the bottom of how the profiles are worked out... the question has been asked before but there has been no definative answer... i have puzzled over it for the last three years lol... doesnt matter if you add more pix or delete them and recategorise or just reload them... its really difficult to go up in overall score.. i had a 7.1 at my highest before i was constantly given 1 votes and it went down really quick to 6.7, i have managed to get back to 6.9 but getting to 7 seems miles away.. new members obviously have a higher rating because they are fresh meat so to speak and even with one profile picture they will usually get one 10, so this puts them up at the top... a lot of new members wait for one vote of 10 and then switch the voting bar off... that means they will stay at the top for ever... its the way the system has been set up. .SJ is the only one who knows how it works and the only one who could change it.

thats the first thought you have i agree... but if/when it continues, its hard to keep that in mind
SJ CAN find out who is doing the one voting and if it is one person with a vendetta or just random, infact he could delete these people as the rules of the site state -
Voting: -
When voting for members or their images please remember that the pictures have been kindly shared by the member for mutual pleasure. Whilst it is a free world and you may use the vote to express your preferences, please do not vote each image the same. This especially applies if you are only giving a 1 score. Low scores of 1 should be exceptional.
Any member who is found to have voted 1 continuously for multiple images will be removed from the site with no redress
and ofcourse by stating the facts I have AGAIN invited the one votes in... jesus!
