Maybe there is a possible explanation. Here is my opinion:
Due to the fact most people use mobile devices to access the web, they tend to forget to visit the site. I strongly believe making a mobile version (web responsive) would help people to visit this website more often.
As of today, the experience of visiting this website on a mobile is similar to the desktop version and the user interface is not adapted for mobile phones or tablets.
I visit this website on regular basis on my PC only.

I like being able to drop in from time to time. I stay in touch with like minded friends and swap pictures and videos. I don’t think the site is dead in as much as it’s a tool for people to casually meet.

I'm agree with Amy here. This site is not dead. They still users who visits the site on daily basis, like myself. From my perspective, I stop to upload pictures weekly because my time schedule is busy.
I will always contribute here.

I do try to stay active on the site and participate but honestly I don't get many respones as I do on bdsmlr or xhamster. So I don't participate on fourms or anything much. But I still love the site and it's been a frequented site since I first join. And a big part of me developing/pursing my current lifestyle. I think it needs to be updated though with some of today's more current social features/design. I know Shoejack has that on the list think he's just waiting to see how laws will develop as far as social media goes. And while this is a adult fetish site and think it should remain that way I think it might help to incorporate some more general shoe releated topics like fashion news etc.. (lot of nice heels at the Emmys, Might be cool to find interviews with adult stars about their shoe colelction...). I think that might help attract more women to the site and intrudce people to the fetish. But I still love the site. Made some great friends on here. Also I often wonder if people do more private chat on here then anything.

I've been in a dilemma for quite a while about the new hotshoeshots website.
I am aware that we need it to be mobile friendly and also have video,
I have let the original site drift for a time while new legislation around user generated content comes out of the EU and the UK's requirement for adult passes is formulated so that I can assess requirements in that direction.
I have always resisted adverts and tracking on the site and never sold or provided users data to third parties.
The site was never about making money and I have supported it from my own pocket for the past ten years.
I am thrilled that we still have many original members from those early days and am encouraged by your words of support for the site.
I have a vision for a fantastic site but here is my dilemma: there is a quite a cost to building, securing and hosting the new site especially with video capabilities.
I have made several false starts on the project but then get disheartened and wonder if there is sufficient support for HSS in the face of Xhamster xvideos etc.
From my perspective, for it to work there would need to be a willingness for members to make a small contribution towards the annual costs.
I am thinking in the region of £10 per year.
This would also satisfy the UK requirement that proof of age is need to access adult content.
I would also like to make the new site more friendly and accessible towards female shoe fans, so the initial pages and content would be non adult in nature and not require any subscription to access.
I would be very interested in hearing your comments and ideas.

I'm not on the site on a daily basis, but wouldn't object to a small annual membership fee if it will make it mobile-friendly and contain videos. £10 would be OK.

It's good to get some feed back and see if there would be support for a collaborative crowd funded type of website community
I will look into all the options that could be used to make contributions in a secure and confidential manner. Payment processors take 65% of everything so any ways that savings on costs can be made by using alternatives like crypto currencies ( Iota with it's security and zero fees preferred of course, but all others accepted) and text payments.
