Hi SJ.
I have questions about EU GDPR.
1. When does EU GDPR take a effect?
2. How will this affect me, a non EU resident (I'm Australian).
3. What kind of data does the GDPR protect?
4. How does the regulation affects hacks and breaches?
Regards Mistress WhipAndHeels

Thank you for your questions Mistress,
1. When does EU GDPR take effect? - it comes into effect tomorrow the 25th May 2018
2. How will this affect me, a non EU resident (I'm Australian). - the benefits will apply to all users of sites that are also made available to European users.
3. What kind of data does the GDPR protect? - The focus of the GDPR is on the handling, processing and storage of personal data. Personal data is information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
GDPR sets out seven key principles:
Lawfulness, fairness and transparency Purpose limitation Data minimisation Accuracy Storage limitation Integrity and confidentiality (security) Accountability
4. How does the regulation affects hacks and breaches?
- The GDPR introduces a duty on all organisations to report certain types of personal data breach to the relevant supervisory authority. This must be done within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, where feasible. If the breach is likely to result in a high risk of adversely affecting individuals’ rights and freedoms, the individuals must also be informed without undue delay. Robust breach detection, investigation and internal reporting procedures must be in place. This will facilitate decision-making about whether or not there is a need to notify the relevant supervisory authority and the affected individuals. A record of any personal data breaches must be kept, regardless of whether it was required required to notify.
