I'm having the same issue. I'm sure shoejack might know about it and is working on it. Until then, best we all can do is log out and then log back in.

I've been trying to replicate the problem with no success. Is this happening after you have been logged into the site for a while? The site keeps your active session open for 25 minutes, after this time it would ask for a login. I could extend this period, but it does degrade the site performance as members who have left the site without clicking log out would still have their sessions open. If it is happening just after you have logged in, then more information would be helpful: what browser you are using eg. internet explorer and version etc and wether your are using a mobile device.

I'm not sure, it could be a cookie issue (which I can likely fix), or a browser issue (or somethign coupled). Essentially it involves having the "Remember Me" box checked in on IE. When you come back after closing the window, you'll need to log out and log back in if you wish to view any profiles or threads on the forums.

go to member area and scroll down
it definitely has to do with returning to the site with the option remember me set to "yes". the cookie "remember" seems ok, maybe the server does not handle it correctly when it is resubmitted...

I finally have the answer, and apologies as I could not get this to happen for me. (I use private browsing mode)
The solution is not to tick the 'remember me' option when first logging into the site or to use Private browsing mode (always a good idea)
As it would be difficult to get all members to use private mode (this always clears cookies on closing the browser) I will remove the 'remember me' option from the site.
If anyone would like help in using private browsing mode in their browser to help with privacy on the web just post and I am sure that we have enough techies here to help.
By the way - the 'log out' link can be found at the bottom of the Member Menu on the left of the site. A big thanks to everyone for their input in helping to debug this.
