i want something done...im not talking about the way we vote i am talking about the one voters being punished... and what form that punishment will take. because i for one want retribution, i want my original scores back before the one votes appeared and i want their scores wiped

this obviously doesnt interest u and think its a big joke, others who have been voted one for no apparent reason may feel as strongly as me, and if this is the case i would urge them to contact SJ direct with their concerns

No, it interests me. I had my share of 1s after sneakily (is that even a word?) taking shots from the streets from my iPhone and only to get a 1 and the same shot, different stance was over 5.

i've had my rating knocked down by 1's and it is kinda a bummer, i must say. i shouldn't be affected by it, but i sorta take it too personal and decided to just shut off the voting on my account just to avoid the silly negativity. i want to know what people think of our pics so we can work to make them better, and random 1's are no help at all.

If the people who are constantly voting low can be found out then why should they be allowed to stay on the site that they are spoiling for others. Some of us enjoy trying to get great shots and get good scores, whats wrong with that, some dont bother thats there choice.
I think we have said enough about this subject and lets have some action. If those responsible are not to be removed then cant there right to vote be stopped?

But although there will be people constantly voting 1's sure, but then im sure there are ones who vote 1 a lot just because they do not like the type of shot? Surely that is a valid 1 score then? We can have the debate of "if someone doesnt like that type of shot then why vote it low just because it is not their cup of tea"? Which is a very good point - but then in that case why do you want someone vote a 10 because it is their cup of tea? i=it is very one sided? Do you see what I mean?
On a general point (not directed at RZ)
Like we have said numerous times before - people want to be voted, yet do not want to be voted badly (whether it is justified or not) which to me, renders the whole point of being voted useless? People only want to be voted if its a good score?
People consistently have a problem with the voting system. The only thing to do will be to get rid of it and replace with a simple like or dislike button.
But then people will complain about competitions and boards (if they are bothered about that kind of thing?) So you cant have it all ways.
You could always have your competitions and boards decided by the number of "likes" voted instead? Its the only way to stop this constant issue
This is the only way you will get rig of 1 voting. Until then we will continue to have this debate frequently. Im sure if you ask SJ, and are that bothered about being voted 1's, he would get rid of it and replace with a simple 50/50 solution of like or dislike.

OK it seems to be we have two problems here.
a) The people who don't try to vote at all but just hit one all the time.
b) The people who always vote a given category 10 and another given category they always vote 1.
I think we should at least fix problem a), and it is technically very easy to do so. Say, after 20 ones in a row, your voting rights will expire (or lets say: will be set on hold for manual review), and the corresponding votes will be cancelled from the affected users' profiles.

If someove votes 20 1's in a row it could still be valid though couldn't it? We need to understand why people vote the 1's before we can say an action like removing priviledges after so many votes?
For example, competitions. Like this month there are many shoes in the MULES category that are not mules. I would say they deserve to be voted 1 as it isnt even appropriate? So therefore if there was 20 and someone voted them all 1, they should have my voting right removed? I think that is harsh as I would actually support their action of voting 1's?
There is also the issue of category placement which encourages people to vote 1's. If someone clicks on High heels, and they come across mules or boots pics being poo'sd of wee'd on, they are likely to be voted 1 as they find the image shocking and not to taste, and is in the wrong category.
So you see, there are too many reasons, and many of them valid, to agree a "punishment" of 1 votes. 1 votes will never stop unless you turn voting off, or eradicate the 1-10 scale completely in favour of another system

What a shock, the cases you mention could be handled (yes, in the current voting system such pictures deserve a 1) by an additional "wrong category" button. Such a button would actually help a lot in cleaning up the side. You could even grant premium members of good standings (or maybe site assistants) the right to change the category on a given pic.
Also I am not saying that 20 ones in a row should lead to an eternal removal of voting rights. I am saying that it should lead to the voting rights being put in hold until a site assistant or SJ personally looks into the issue. If the ones were even remotely justified, the voting rights can then be reinstalled.
By the way I am not in favor of getting rid of the voting system. It is a very good interactivity feature, and I do not always vote 1 or 10, I vote in between in most cases. It just needs a little more finetuning/safeguarding/moderation to work.

But I think no matter what happens, no matter what safeguards we put in place, practices to enable change, people can, and always will vote 1's wont they, as well they should if they feel the genuine need. I'm sure SJ will read this and offer his views once more, and I shall give him a prod to take a look at it forthwith.

i know i will get low votes, not disputing that, i dont appeal to everyone... time and again my new pictures, near enough as soon as i posted them, were given ones... this started in august... now i immediately thought someone was using the one button as a "next" function so i ignored it for a while then asked SJ if he could look into it for me and see if there was a pattern or i was just on the wrong track. he gave me two names and said they were newish members and were using the one vote in this way (these were just votes on my profile) he said he had sent them a message telling them not to do this.... ok...but what is stopping this happening again? there is no deterrent... all u do is pick a board vote everyone low in that catergory and get yrself put on there... its happening now, this is probably why some of the leader board averages are low
I think the ideas coming out this time round regarding voting are really good and maybe will lead somewhere...

Thanks for your reply, i do have to say i disagree with your feelings that people are voting on my pics but they are just not the kind of pics they want to see.
There are two main ways to vote firstly on the persons main profile page, if they dont like what i post there is no need for them to be on there to start with.
Secondly your can pick your category you want to view pics of so, if you hate slingbacks then why are you looking in the slingbacks category and voting low because you dont like them!!
So as far as i can see there is no need to be seeing pics that you dont like at all unless there put in the wrong category of course!!
I do agree there is a place to vote 1. it would be for pics of sunrises or trees and one with no shoe based content whatever, to my mind any pic that has had some effort put into it by the owner deserves to be scored in a proper fashion, it's a great feature of the site and is the most abused also which is a real shame. All i want to see is fair voting i'm not saying i want all 10's but a true reflection of the style, quality and effort and of course the shoes LOL.
I do think a skip/next button would save a lot of hassle, and why do people pick the one button to skip pics, why not the 10 LOL
You have an excellent rating of 8.1 (i think) which is well deserved for your pics but if you turned on your voting bar again and started getting the silly 1-3 votes i wonder if that would change your feelings about it all?

I didnt say people are voting on your pics specifically and voting 1s as they dont like them, I am saying this generally happens on any profile for as many reasons as you can count on all your fingers and piggiess.
I dissagree with what you say on what deserves a 1. If there is a pic of a sunrise then it should just get deleted by admin first off. There is a pic which could have had lots of effort, but is of something that disgusts you and your taste then people could well be inclined to vote a 1, like scat for example (not saying anything is wrong with it before the scat fans jump on me, its just an example), but if its not your thing or repulses you then people are entitled to vote a 1 without reprise. This may well happen as a pic is in the wrong category I agree, but even still if someone thinks its worth a 1and the 1 button is their to be used then it is the members genuine prerogative. One major issue I think is as this example states - we all have different opinions on what deserves a 1 and what doesnt - and this is just between 2 well contributing members so we can assume that the other 4000 members all have their own opinions on what deserves a 1 therefore pics will always get voted as 1's at some point, for whatever reason so long as the functionality remains to do so.
I do not disagree that there are people who just vote 1's for whatever reason and this is not fair, hence why I have asked SJ one more to look into this, however there is also validity to vote pics 1 if a member feels it deserves it. After all, it is about personal preference.
Yes you are right, I turned my voting off because I realised very quickly that no matter what you do, there will always be people who vote you down for many different reasons which you will never ever stop (case of mine being voted 10's, then 2's and a 1 despite every pic of mine being in the high heels category so you would thing that people who are looking that category would think my pics OK) - however as the point I am making, no matter what you do and no matter how well you categorise your pics, you will still always get voted 1's and 2's for whatever reason, and for me personally yes it bugged me so I chose to turn it so so to avoid it in future.
I have more cause to leave voting turned off now more than ever with the contact and arguments I have with some of the members about their content and other matters - they would automatically just vote me a one because they hate me, or disagree I have asked them to remove their internet pics. There is one member in particular who is probably reading this, whom I had the internet pic debate with and we ended up having huge arguments and no doubt this member would have just voted me a 1 because I upset or angered them. However this member has since become one of my dearest friends on here and we talk a lot, but they would not be able to vote again in line with their feelings currently. That is another reasons why I also leave my voting turned off now. I get many emails saying "turn your voting on, you would get a 10 from me etc, but I know there is a flip side to that so I leave it off).
However I understand that people want to leave theirs on for competitions and leader boards and understand that some members like that functionality (whether I take part or not) so am here to try to help find some resolve.
So my feelings on this matter would not change if my score were to drop, becasue it angered me before and angers me still, but I realise that no matter what we do - we cant please everyone and we will always get voted down for petty reasons like we havnt replied to someones email, or we have upset someone for what ever reason. T

YES, there are persistent 1 voters and I agree something needs to be done with them to which we will investigate, but also YES there is genuine and valid reasons why some pics are voted 1 (in my opinion). We can't change human nature and members who think that 1 votes are undeserving in any circumstance should perhaps turn their voting off all together?

Well i made it to the end of the essay, LOL. Very well made points they are too. I will say that we all seem to agree on most points, it's just the fine tuning that will never be clear with so many members to take into account
I agree with you about certain pics that do nothing for certain people although if you post in the right category that should minimize that whole point, and also one pic can be placed into many of the categories we have so i can see confusing issues there too.
All in all i think the voting is a great feature of the site even if it's floored buy the people using it, unless we have that skip button and people use it there will always be certain members who will spoil it out of fun or to promote there own pics above others. Would be great to hear from SJ on the whole issue and maybe have a vote on any options he can put forward

It's been as it is for a long while and occasionally spoilt by a few folk.
Whatever we do there will always be someone out there that won't give a damn.
I could post a league table of the 1 voters and cause a real outright war. Or I could send them a message and point out that if they persist in not thinking about others feelings I shall simply delete them.
Personally I think this may be the best approach. I know who they are, they know who they are, and if I see a whole string of 1 votes when I check in a weeks time then they will be deleted .

well thats a good thing... short term, corse after a week after youve checked that everything is as it should be...everyone can go back to doing whatever they like voting wise... and normal service will be resumed for a while...
i have to agree with WAS on the points made about getting voted down if you werent liked, ive noticed that in the past if ive spoken out about something theres usually a backlash... this time tho i know ive been voted down purposely and i am really pissed off about it... i have a few options now, take the pix off and reload thus clearing the ones, not sure if that affects the profile ratings any more but thats gone down anyway with all the one votes... or turn the voting bar off and preserve my sanity... corse i could always take all the pix off, delete my profile, rejoin load the pix up again, get 10 for the first pic and then turn the bar off... now that sounds like a plan...... why go to that trouble tho, just load the 20 pix u need for functionality and vote yourself tens, one for each catergory... then turn the bar off.... or would that look too suspicious??

I would agree the comment that you vote a 1 because you don't like thepicture or content .I tend to vote mainly in the TV, platforms and extreme heels section, and my reasons for voting a 1 are :-
Cock shots - you are a TV so we know you have one, there's no need to show us.
Cumshots - there is a specific section for them so put them in there
Pics with no shoes in - the name of teh site is HOTSHOESHOTS - surely there is a hint there in the title.
Other than that I vote every picture on how horny I find it

im not surprised the one vote is used in the extreme catergory so often, every other pic is shoes up the arse... kind of spoils the flow unless u like that... maybe another catergory for that, dont no wot u would call it...
infact i used the term stick it up yr arse to a one voter, when he offered me a ten to make amends...
question... do the members who have voted you all one deserve to be on the leader boards? or are we so broad minded and forgiving its ok?

I also get votes of ones. I recently looked at my pics and I had about 15 shots that were rated a one. Well since someone thought that they were worth that I just deleted them. I figure that since one person don't like them then I would just get rid of those shots and move on. Unfortunately, for those that liked those shots (and did not vote on them), they are gone and can't be seen any longer. As for the change on the leader boards, It happens almost overnight it seems, and I can see where the frustration would come in, one day you are leading a particular category and the next your on the bottom. Been there done that. The problem with having ones on the voting system is that it is the lowest you can give. I suggest that we put in a skip button, Maybe that way, if the member, comes across a pic that they don't like, they can just skip it and move on to the next. Thus, eliminating the need to vote a one, unless the pic is way off topic, or so far out of focus that you can't tell what it is.
Just a thought, maybe it would work.

So what is the need to use the 1 as a skip button anyway, you could use the 10 just as well but nobody seems to do that so is there a reason why the 1 is used rather than any other. Can those people who are found to be voting low all the time not have voting rights removed??
It's a real shame when members are removing perfectly good pictures just because they receive stupid votes, but i do understand how it makes them feel !!

Probably because if people just want to skip a picture it is because they do not like it, therefore will be more inclined to use 1 rather than 10 if they dont like it

ive done that, removed pix with low votes because i thought they must be bad in some way although i thought they were ok.. all that needs to happen is rename the one, skip or add another button.... or better still use the rate shoe shots option like yr sposed to... i wonder if its too low down the page 4 easy navigation, i no it is if u have a lap top.. maybe sj could reposition it on the page??

i took the pix off that had been voted one...and reposted them plus a few others i found and messed around with, i now have nine pix with a single vote of one... what does that tell u?? o plus my overall rating has dropped by .1, it went from 6.9 to 6.8 overnight...this is the real effect one voting can have
i would be interested to know if it is the same members thinking they had got away with something..

You gotta wonder what it is that someone wants to see in the boots category, my pic is of my wife in her boots, ok not high heels but i thought they looked pretty good and the pics are ok quality, would love to hear from the member who voted

the week is up and as far as i know no one has been deleted so you would assume there is no low voting going on but... the rate i am going my profile rating will be back to zero in no time.. wonder if you can have recorded votes plus a zero rating? never did understand the way the averages are worked out...

I'm guessing the rateing is worked out by the overall total of the votes divided by the number of times your voted on. So even if you remove a pic the score it had will still count as it has been included already. Think we can talk about this for ever but has and will anything be done to sort it out?

a lot of people here make bullets but never fire them themselves... and sit back and cover their own backs for fear of rocking the boat! i have been a victim of this mentallity, so comments like "we will never get to the bottom of this" or "things will never change" are just not welcome at this point..

i agree, if we want things to change then we have to make them change if it's possible. We really need SJ to take the lead and say what can and cant be done, i do understand it's his site, his time etc. But if we know what can and cant be done then we can all work to the same end !!
