When you select from the Show menu (show all, show mules etc) the vote that you give is for the individual image. The voting bar is placed above the image.
When you select from the Top and Newest menus and click on a profile picture from the list, you will be voting for the profile. The voting bar is at the bottom of the image.
Selecting from the top 5 lists on the right hand side also take you straight into voting for the profile.
The top five lists show those images that have the highest number of votes.

Can you limit rating to registered member only? Seems anonymous guests like to rate everything 1...

Yes, rating is limited to members only.
First time visitors tend to get a bit over excited and rate everything the same. Mind you, one picture I saw yesterday was so HOT that I rated it 25! ;-)

It is indeed sad that webshot or advertising shots get rated substantially higher then pictures of real people, there have been a few discussions about that somewhere else on this forum already.
Personally I rate personal shot always higher then the non-personal ones. But I do check if the person wearing them is male or female and i must admit that pictures of males in shoes do not get a high rating, but that is just my personal taste, sorry.

Professional / webfinds are no longer able to be voted for. There may still be the occasional image that escapes but I have covered most of them.

It is clear from all the different shots that we all like different things which is great, if you don't like it just don't rate it, leave it for those who do like it.
I think somepeople just go through put a score of 1 just for the "fun" of it or maybe to make there own rateings look better

i agree riftzone!!! i'm not fond of flip-flops, flat soled boots and no name/generic brand sneakers, so i'm not going into those sections just to give them 1s, i have my own agendas looking for the pairs that appeal me and i give them 9 and 10s. i don't care about my rating, but it is messed up to just throw 1s to everyone b/c you think your pics are better, ect.

i think if you dont like a pic dont rate it... a rating of one just lowers the average rating and thats a sad and somewhat nasty thing to do to people who have taken the time to share their cherished collections and love of all things heel related with us all...

as far as we understand it, the individual pix are still rated seperately... altho the profile itself is rated too... work that one out if ya can hehe

Sorry to hear that.
We sometimes get 'members' who click through the ratings giving every picture the same score. I will check the logs and see if any one member is responsible.
A warning will be sent to any offending members and they will be excluded if the behaviour continues.
Please do not be downhearted, we all really appreciate your contributions to the site. You can be assured that you have many fans here.

Hi YM, you dont need rateings to know how good your pics are do you!!!
I think there are so many members with so many pics that it would take ages to actually find a certain pic to rate, and the more membrs the longer it will take till nobody is going to bother which will be a shame. I really like Slutty heels (posted in must haves forum) idea of being able to click on a certain pic and rate it even if we can only rate say 5 pics a day(Cathy C idea just below Slutty heels) Don't know how feasable that idea is, maybe SJ could think about it and let us know. What does anyone else think?

All rating systems back online. The profile rating bar went missing in action. (thats the one at the bottom of the profile pic.)
Remember that you can only rate a profile once each day.

can you explain how you work out the average rating for an individual picture, my sums dont seem to add up... and why is it so difficult to rate a specific picture when rating a profile is so easy....

Just when I think I figured out what the general taste is of the folks here on the site, post the pictures that I think are the most appropriate for the audience, I go and get a couple of what I think are REALLY good pictures with a 4 or a 2 on it. Geez, I really wish we could see what folks were thinking. And how does the same picture, taken seconds apart have one get an average of 7 and the other gets an average of 3?

i have the same problem... ive picked up another two ratings of 1 today... the ratings vary because the pictures dont come up together on rate shoe shots... at least thats how i see it at the moment, there again its hard to find any pictures of mine on browse, ive tried..... same profiles come up over and over again

The pics come up as random as it is possible for any algorithm to do so in the 'show' sections. The newer categories such as dangling have fewer profiles in them as less Members have posted pics in that category.
If a Member has 200 pics in their profile then they will occur more often than a Member with 10 pics.
I really try to weed out those Members who only rate all image with the same score, whether that be a 1 or a 10, but it must be remembered that: A. some Members don't hold ratings as important as others and B. when a non Member visits the site for the first time they are able to rate an image, and may not hold Members feelings as highly as other Members do.

I propose a "Skip" button or a zero on the score bar for the purpose of skipping to the next picture. There are pictures and profile contents that simply are of no interest to me. Rather than giving them low marks I would prefer to skip to the next. The refresh button on the browser brings mixed results. And it is a chore to go back down the list in "Rate Shoe Shots" to start all over again.
The "Skip" button or zero score should not be used to tabulate the rating. However, if the number of skips or zero scores can be tallied it may provide the members with some useful information about the pictures or profile contents for the members.
Perhaps those that are constantly voting 1 now will vote zero, therefore, nullifying their efforts!

this issue will never be right. If voting started at 5 - 10, and people started voting 5's - some would then complain becasue they are getting the lowest possible. I really dont see the point in having a score chart if poeple on want their pics to be rated if they are going to be high scores. It defeats the purpose. I which case you only need 2 butons dont you. Like, and dont like. Cos thats all it boils down to. Having the functionality to rate low, but encouraging people not tu just seems ludicrous. If functionality is there - let it be used for its purpose for thos it matters too. If people dont like being rated low - turn your taring off. Or just go with a 2 or 3 button method. Good, fair, poor etc. This discussion will go on for an eternity cos it will never please evryone will it

its a very good suggestion by highon heels, maybe people have been using the 1 vote to skip to the next picture quickly. it would explain a lot to all those who have complained about 1 votes in the past.

This sounds a really good idea, it really could explain a lot of the rating problems.
Very interesting comment by WAS. With a protected score over 8 for just a few pics and given the earlyer problems to do with this very subject

Just for the record I have never rated any picture or profile a 1. I've given some 2's or 3's for out of focus or poorly lit photos. There are a lot that I skipped...thus my request for a "Skip" button.

There are a huge amount of pictures of cock with shoes, cum on shoes and shoe up the butt. These are of little interest to me. But these subjects must be a big turn on for some members. Just as in casting votes for an issue or a candidate if I know nothing about or have little interest in the matter I abstain. This is my point.

I think the point taken by highonheels is a very good one, Just because you dont like a pic or have no feelings for it one way or the other dosent make it a bad pic at all, just not for your taste a simple opt out is a good choice.
I am not saying i only want high ratings but ones that reflect the pics i post, with better scores my wife would still be happy to post, but not any more, not for the 2 and 3 marks we managed. Maybe that sounds petty but she gave it a go and people didn't like them i guess
Lets face it, very few pics posted on here are worth a 1, if a person has gone to the effort of posting then it's worth a reasoned score. So many good pics are still getting low scores it has to be worth a try at least

I've taken a look and I have an alternative simpler suggestion: if you wish to skip an image and not vote for it then just hit the 'Show ..' menu again. This will throw up a new image and saves me a HEAP of work in the bowels of the rating script. Until I can find time to rework the script I hope this proves a simple solution.

thats ok if you are looking in the top 6 catergories, anything below that and you have to scroll down every time... something at the top of the screen to press to get u to the next pic in the catergory you want is i think what is being asked for.

I get what you are saying. However - if I see pics of shoes up bums or transvestites - then they are what I do not like, therefore they are what I woudl rate a 1 to. Becasue I do not like it. Isnt that what rating is for. I just dont get why people have something against rating something badly they dont like - or should i say more to the point = having their picture rated badly if someone doesnt like it. Therefore the whole rating process should be renamed "Praising" proceess becasue if no one wants anyone to rate anything a 1 if they dont like it - which they are entitiled to do, then it is all just praise without criticism in which case the whole "rating" term is redundant isnt it. Cos nothing is being "Rated" properly. People have boted pics of mine 1 in the past - doesnt bother me. They were perhaps the ones who wanted a cock in the pic. Fair enough. But then the ones I see which arnt to my taste - I can rate a 1 if its horrible, 2 or 3 or so on. Isnt that thr true meaning of rating. Cos as it stands - people only seem to want praise so shouldnt the whole process be renamed to please the few who are bothered about scores?

I can see WAS' position. The reality is that there are a diverse bunch of members here. I simply do not wish to impose my values on a picture or profile if it isn't my cup of tea. We can certainly agree to disagree. For me, until SJ comes up with a zero vote or Skip button, I will go back down to click Show catagory under Rate Shoe Shots.
